Filmaktiv and The Student Culture Centre at the University of Rijeka announce the third annual Student International Film Festival – STIFF. The festival will take place October 13th – 15th 2016, at Art-Kino Croatia, in Rijeka, Croatia.
The directors Maša Drndić and Sanja Marjanović, once again selected works among a huge number of submissions and programmed the best of the student film and animation works which arrived from more than 50 countries around the world. During the three festival days, the audiences will see 47 works out of which 20 fiction films, 16 documentaries and 11 animations.
Special addition to this year’s festival is DOMAĆINI / HOSTS program – a selection of short films created by students of Ma program Media Art and Practice (MAP) from the Academy of Applied Arts in Rijeka. Second year in a row as part of STIFF program, we proudly present a film awarded by Academy Award. Last year we had a pleasure of watching Sadakat / Fidelity by Ilker Catak and this year we will see Eye for an eye, an animated documentary by Steve Bache i Mahyar Goudarzi which got an Academy Award for the best Student Foreign Animation in 2016.
Festival jury will award the best fiction, documentary and animation and the audiences will vote for an Audience Award. This year STIFF focuses on documentaries. As part of this program the audiences will see 16 documentaries. On Saturday 15th October, at 4pm, at Art Kino Croatia, in Rijeka, audiences can attend DOX IN FOKUS, a panel discussion on the documentary filmmaking process and how to cross the borders of the traditional documentary film.
