DISSONANCE / travelogues in-between
(Video/Audio installation)
(2016)

Constant movement has come to be the only certainty about my life in the past few years. It has been a while I have been trying to understand, often together with many others also on the move, why such intense mobility feels so immobilizing and restrictive. The inability to name, explicate, mourn the insecurity embedded in such mobility, has become ever more articulate while facing the largest failure of handling displacement in the recent history. This project is exposing introspective reflections on entanglements and disentanglements of different movement trajectories. It is about the difficulties of locating the self or extending the self across the diverse forms of constructed borders of our belonging.

Main storyline embedded in the sound is brought through the readings of 8 poems. The poems are chronologically presented drawing on specific emotional states as well as observations connected to various locations / countries that marked my life in the recent months (Croatia, Hungary, Germany, and Austria).

ON NOSTALGIA
(Audio/video installation)

(2014/2015)

Shaped through the fragmented, selective memories triggered by sounds, smells and taste, and by fetishistic, ritualistic as well as lethargic practices, nostalgia serves as a comfort zone, a safe haven from the uncertainty of the future.

It is often an internalized, intimate rebellion, a sluggish criticism of the present.

On Nostalgia is an on-going project meant to be developed over a longer time frame and in several locations. Using the mediums of audio and video recording as well as photography this project aim to collect various traces of a personal past: objects, narratives and spaces surrounding the topic of nostalgia.

Thereby exploring it’s contradictory dimensions - as a global and local, inclusive and exclusive, retrograde and adoptive, reflective and reproductive, repetitive and impulsive sentiment.

Project aim is to discuss how the visibility of certain identities, ways of self-expression are socially controlled and contested. I seek to capture and underline presence of neglected identities through the series of images reflecting their “absence” in public spaces, non recognizable silent existence, an invisible private protests.

FACTORY IN PROGRESS
(interdisciplinary art project)

(2011/2012)

The interdisciplinary project “Factory in Progress”  took place in the inspiring environment of a paper factory in Rijeka, Croatia in summer 2011 and  followed up with a simular inciative in  the former House of culture"-  Teatro Fenice  in 2012.

It rounded up 14 creative professionals  from different areas (contemporary dance, corporeal mine, classical theatre, electronic music, design, fine art, film, photography...) bent on producing an unconventional experience - a contemporary play that would be made and performed within three days. No script, no director, no plans except the ones made on site. Music was also composed on site and as well  video was shot and photos taken.

The video artist and the photographer were not there just to document the whole thing, on the contrary - they were given complete freedom so the photos and the film became a standalone work; the authors artistic vision of the project.
